ESET Security Review
ESET is a solid anti-malware engine, useful firewall settings and a password manager that includes form filling, browser protection and excellent security tools for networks. Its parental controls as well as secure browser and anti-theft tools are also decent but not great. It does not include a VPN or microphone protection, but it does provide remote screen capture or camera access to check what a criminal has been doing on your phone or laptop.
The program is designed using an intuitive interface that beginners can easily understand but also contains comprehensive information and features that are suitable for power users. The company provides excellent customer service, which can be accessed via their website or from the client directly through the “support” button that is located at the bottom of each app.
We were impressed by the fact that ESET Internet Security shows you the way it’s protecting your computer by providing a status bar at the top of the window and also gives you complete protection statistics. If something major happens on your computer or when you have to take action, the software displays precise and concise alerts on the desktop, near the tray for system.
However the anti-phishing tools in the antivirus were a bit over-vigilant and blocked quite handful of websites that were not listed on PhishTank that I trust. The program also tests USB storage devices once they are connected to our laptop. This was frustrating, since most antiviruses require permission.
